Two player, is it possible?

Is it possible to assign a different event kind of action to a different button? Like,

"Tom is in a dark room. You can press triangle to light a torch and see."

Two-player is possible, but only with turn-based pass-the-controller-around gameplay. Simultaneous play is not possible.

How about the buttons?

Once again depends on the RPGMaker version as to how this is done.

In two you create an action script, and put it in the apply slot of an event (any event really) in every map. In this apply script you have

Script Branch Repeat Flag [Off (Fixed)] off
Input Buttons Constant Wait
Sort [User Button]
Apply If 0 /*Up*/
/* Do Stuff */
Script To End
Apply If 1 /*Down*/
/* Do Stuff */
Script To End
...
Apply If 15 /*R3*/
/* Do Stuff */
Script To End
Script Branch: End

For the others, not sure how you would do something similar, but it should be possible.

Button commands aren't possible in RPGM1. At least, not for exploration. You'll have to settle for coming up to a torch or something to light things up.
