Okay, so Part 1 of our second race (Donkey Kong Country) is scheduled for upload today. However, I'm still missing one file. Hopefully I'll get it before the day is over.

Glee, my framerate is really bad there. Did you have a rendering issue? My source files have hardly any lag so I'm not sure what the problem is.

Are you ever going to answer Duel's question, or are you just going to keep ignoring him for the delight of your own posts?

Here is what he last said in this topic:

Quote:

EDIT: Also, I think you should take some time the next time you edit a race and make sure everything is good before you render and upload. People's screens are different sizes, they're not evenly spaced from each other, the annotation boxes don't fit the game screens, and there's still technical difficulties. Please tyr to flesh these out and make it look nicer in the future. I understand that you're new to this, but gradual improvement and refinement is what I was expecting to see, but I really haven't seen much in this regard. Not trying to be a dick about it, but I really think these things should be fleshed out and worked on as much as possible before you upload them.

Duel, what I don't understand is how your videos were lagging throughout and the rest weren't. It's unusual if you ask me.

Hey, guys. So Part 1 of the Donkey Kong Country 2 race was scheduled for upload tomorrow. But unfortunately, due to the fact that one person I raced with won't have Wi-Fi until late tomorrow. That video may be a few days late. So, for the time being, I'm gonna mention this for you guys:

One thing I like to do is have everyone finish. That way, the standings will at least be solidified. However, I'm thinking about making a little modification to that rule: Once second to last finishes, if whoever is in last does not finish the game within that half-hour, we just end the race. That way we won't have a repeat performance of the Super Mario 64 race.

I have been looking to try a few new things for future races, but not all of them have been working out. Example: I have found the ability to make widescreen videos, but even with that, the background wouldn't cover the whole screen. And as far as people's screens different sizes, I'm willing to work on that for future races.

I have a question about the DKC1 race. I saw Duel's video was laggy. How did he send it? That matters a lot. If you send it through Skype(/sometimes e-mail) it reduces frame rate so... yeah.

His videos were fine. What you need to know is, xSplit(which is a great and and cheap form of recording) has great quality, but you have to use freeware conversion such as Handbrake to convert it to an MP4 format, or something else that video editors like more(xSplit records in .flv, aka, a Flash-type file). He used the same method of recording on the Super Mario World video, and sent them through Sendspace like a lot of us do for Lantis regularly- and Lantis converted the videos over to MP4... as I did for when we requested Duel do a test video. And I don't think sending videos with different methods of file transfer magically mess up video either.:p It's more that with a less stable connection, you are very likely to corrupt any kind of download. But Duel uses Sendspace, anyways.

HandBrake is a lovely program, and I can't recommend it enough. It's like a two-click process.

How he sends it doesn't matter. The sending of a file does not compromise the integrity of the file. It's like saying if you send a png over skype, it'll be more grainy or have less colors and look like a jpg. It's like saying you send ice cream through e-mail and it becomes yogurt. It doesn't happen. Where you get that idea is beyond me. It's the conversion of file types that matters.
