Forum: Video Games   Topic: great gameplay features/systems in ANY genre?

Great games are great, but sometimes an overall bad game has a shining feature that is overlooked/underplayed because of what it was packaged with. Regardless of how you liked the game itself, how about we list some great features or systems included with games that deserve to be remembered? I'll st...

⋅ What games do you think have interesting mythologies? ⋅ Are there any myths that are frequently incorporated into games' plots that you think are overused? (Like the de facto miscellaneous evil god trying to rule/destroy the world) ⋅ How do you feel about invented la...

Actually, I'm betting Cliffsky does quite well with his games (financially). He hangs out at another forum I go to. One of his games was mentioned on penny arcade, pretty big crowd. When you break down piracy, it does lead to obvious and/or off-the-wall conclusions.

Well, there's probably at least 3 things wrong with reviews: 1) The scoring system. Scales of 1-5 and 1-10 are rigid and the numbers alone can't tell you much. If you go by the bartle system (however outdated), they'd realize that they are scoring the wrong things as well. Not to mention that each d...

A man is restrained against a wall in a dark room. He's been there for days. He's feeling weak and dazed. It's starting to show... and smell. A man in a suit walks in, letting in a bright light that temporarily blinds the restrained man. "Here's some food, brother." "Let me out of her...

Actually, I've heard really good feedback about many freemium and microtransaction services, but mainly when they serve no mechanical purpose. I recently read about a game that was a free online game, but offered a deluxe version with the ability to change the default "skin". Dude made 92k...

Not sure it's really related to perfectionism. I'm betting a lot of people aren't even working on the game at all. What's that stem from? 1) Missing resources critical to understanding or finishing an event 2) Losing enthusiasm for working on the game 2a) because the game isn't really that good 2b) ...

It's good and bad. Good: 1) It will promote extra features in games. 2) It allows indie games to make a significant amount of profit. Neutral: 1) It's not for everyone. Not everyone is gonna pay 2 bucks for a different looking horse to ride. Bad: 1) Bad companies will use micro-transactions in the s...

A high-pitched voice cried out, “I cannot believe you are going through with this war, David!” A deep, manly voice rebutted, “I already told you, Elli! We don't know what they intend to do!” “...and so we should just murder them!? Murder them because we do not understand them!?”, Elli shrieked, tear...

Places (The alley behind a bar) Things (The bone necklace of Toku Orkan) Emotions (The saddest story on earth) Time (The year 2082) or anything el...

I might suggest raising the limit of words to 250 or 225. Each story had little fat to cut and could have greatly benefited from an extra line or two.

NLY - 7 The ending seemed a little passive to me. Gnasher - 8 The story was complete, but the pacing was a little off. Bonanza - 8 A little far fetched... maybe another line or two would really help. Staffy - 7 You seem to be missing the climax. (maybe you lost it when you got married?) Nex - 9 Good...

Not sure I wanna bother with a development studio at this time. At this point, this is likely my last chance to complete my game. It is good. There are 2 DS games... IIRC, one has a great sad story, and other other is somewhat of just an upgrade from the gba... I played them out of order and disappointed myself.
