Originally, this thread was created by Draygone to put together our first race. Since then I have hijacked it to be our planning thread. Since things have gotten a little bit bigger than expected, we've recently been taking our planning to PMs. So this thread will now be retroactively fitted to be a general discussion for us and the fans.

Seasons Results Archive: An archive that holds the standings for each game in a season, the final standings, and the results of that season's Straw Poll. It's a master list that will hold this information for all seasons.
Let's Race Tropes page: Updated and maintained by member Gunarmdyne, this is a list calling out to many moments or themes that show up throughout our videos.

Social Networking for getting into contact with us and suggesting 7th race games:
Facebook
Twitter

General Rules and format of the races:
-A season consists of seven games. Six chosen by the main race members, and one by the fans.
-The games are raced in the order of the ranking of the previous season, with the fan pick being the seventh.
-Glitch exploits, save states, or other tweaks the the game are allowed or disallowed by the person who chooses the current game.
-Placing is finalized by either hitting the thirty minute mark of a video assuming the winner beats the game before the half-hour mark... or, if going past the thirty minute mark, whenever the person in first finished with gameplay.
-Positioning is generally decided by who made it the farthest, even if they end up having to backtrack due to a game over. This is subject to change on a game by game basis.
-Points are handed out based on place with first getting 6 points and last getting 1.
-All points are added up and the results dictate the order of the next season.

Well, looks like we have four people willing to go. If you and Dray are cool with DKC, then all we'll need to do is set a time.

DKC sounds fine. And if you wanted to do the video editing, that works for me, 'cause I've got a lot of my own coming up shortly. One thing we need to make sure we do is all of us have a recording break together around every half-hour. Because I don't know about the rest of you, but I tend to have audio de-sync if I record for too long at a time. Another thing we'll need to remember to play with no game audio, because we don't need multiple games chirping their tunes at the same time in the final video.

As for a time, maybe sometime next week. That'll give plenty of time for more people to jump in, and a better chance to make sure the particular day we choose is free. Also, not on a Friday.

That all sounds fine to me. One thing though, could you use audacity and get the audio from the skype conversation. I don't have both internal and external audio recording.

Might I suggest NES METROID for the second game if this gets going?

I'd just assume we'd all record our own audio.

You know those times when you make things a lot more complicated than they should be?

I just did that.

I just thought of something. If we all wear a headset, we will be able to both listen to the in-game sound as well as not have to worry about your mic picking up somebody else's voice. This needs to be a requirement.

But I could look into picking one up this weekend. It's something I've been meaning to do anyways.

Just curious- would it make more sense for one person to throw up the Skype conversation?

Other than that- sounds great. Hardy har, having a headset comes in handy(just this once, they can/are terrible for noise problems for recording regular LPs.:P Lots of omni-noise, and also I bump mine too much. And it's always all up ons, can't pull away! I seriously need to look into a regular mic for solo junk.

If a person recorded their internal audio for skype... they wouldn't be recording their voice as that does not play over their speakers. Besides, if everyone just recorded their own, I wouldn't have to worry about syncing it up with the video. I'd just have to make sure all four videos were all playing at the right time.... er... something like that.

Ah, okay. I GET IT NOW! I think I was overthinking this a bit too.

Super Meat Boy would be a million times more entertaining to watch 4 people playing and failing at.

Just saying.

NES Metroid is hard as f*ck. It wouldn't even be a race so much as aimless wandering for hours unless everyone knew the game like the back of their hands.

I've never played SMB, but I've heard good things. The question, though, is emulatability, which is a word I just made up. It has to be recorded somehow.

Ix. If you wanted in, I could split the screen 5 ways. I'd use the extra space to put up some information or something. You'd have to fullscreen the video though so you could see everything moderately well.

QUICK! EVERYONE GET CAPTURE DEVICES!

:P Isn't it available on Steam? I'm not sure and I'm too lazy to check. Also, I just love DKC so frikken much. I wouldn't be opposed to continuing this, though.

I think something cool for the extra space could be a nice graphic, some info, etc. Like Lantis said.
