Do you have a request for a new feature? Why not put it here?

ImoSPC support in the chat page.

Take a look here for an example:
http://bin.smwcentral.net/u/7478/imo-test.html

You can look here to download it and for documentation on how to get it to work:
https://code.google.com/p/imo-spc/

A SPC is a song ripped directly from the SNES cartridge itself. Because it's the original format, it's extremely tiny while sounding extremely close to a real SNES. For example, the entire Chrono Trigger soundtrack is only 300kb when zipped(And Imospc supports .zipped soundtracks) while sounding like it's a higher bitrate mp3.

I'm suggesting that we could have a SPC player embedded somewhere on the chat page, maybe in that little space below the User List(Though it leaves little room for a actual playlist), or maybe on one of the unused sides of the page or something.
It might offer someone something retro to listen to while hanging out in the chat, kinda making it more 'homey'. Plus, it would give people another reason to possibly use the chat, for a Retro Music player of sorts, so people might want to pop in a little more often to listen to virtually costless music(in terms of resources and bandwidth) while they're working on whatever other project they might be working on.
Also it's in Javascript, so the client wouldn't have to download anything extra, except for maybe JRE if they don't have it.
And of course, since it's completely controllable, people can simply turn it off as well(Or just have it off by default).

I assume there might be copyright problems, but at the same time, I feel it's on the same level as Lets Plays are. As in, not enough of a issue that anyone would care(Except for Google, of course), but thats just my opinion.
I also assume it would be okay because you wouldn't be making any money off it and SNES music is pretty old, but I dunno. I'm horrible with legality stuff, so I'm unaware of the details of it.

If you decide this is a good idea, I can help install it if necessary, since I had to install it on a page of my own, a bit of a pain in the ass(Though I had no .html or .css experience, so that might explain why it was hard for me to set up).
Also because it's open source and I know quite abit of Java, I can make any modifications that are wanted, such as proper Caching, to save bandwidth(Although with music that small, I imagine bandwidth shouldn't be a issue, but I dunno).

As for the actual soundtrack archive itself, I have a 'ton' of sorted and rated spc musics, so I could set you up with a premade archive with music I'm sure most would enjoy from various games, including Super Metroid, Terranigma, Illusion of Gaia, Zelda, Earthbound, well you get the idea.

Of course, I can see many reasons why NOT to put it up, but it would be a fun little addition to implement, so I figured I'd see if maybe you'd like the idea. ImoSPC is very small, easy enough to implement and the vgm itself would cost next to no bandwidth since the files are so tiny.
Would be fun maybe.

The idea has some potential, but based on a convo with you, I don't think it's quite ready yet.

Dunno if you'd like this idea or not, but I think it'd be cool to maybe separate the articles and LPs in the content update stream on the front page of the site. I notice LPs are updated much more often(which is the nature of things, naturally) and articles are more scant, so I could see some getting buried later.

Actually, on the update stream, it's limited to the last actions of the last 10 people.

For the chat, instead of going AFK when people are idle for a while, they should become Idle. Because sometimes I actually do want to go AFK, but there's no way anybody would tell if I'm AFK because I'm AFK or because I haven't said anything for a while.

It would also be nice if the Idle status didn't automatically override AFK, BRB, or Busy. AFK currently does that and it lies.

I'm late as heck replying to this, but basically, AFK trumps them all because that's what it means.

If you are Idle, you are clearly away from your keyboard or not paying attention to the chat. And it takes about 30 minutes for that to happen anyway.

But there are times I'm AFK in the chat, but very active with my keyboard in a game or something. Technically, I'm not AFK.

Yeah, seeing "AFK" can be a deterrent to even starting a conversation. It's like... "What's the point if they aren't here to read it" when in fact they are.

But I still agree to a point that if they aren't typing for a half an hour are they even engaged with the chat?

Simple. Nobody's talking. But soon as someone comes in, I still say "hi". Just because I'm not active doesn't mean I'm not there.

Okay, I have modified the chat as follows:

There is a new Idle status. If you are set to "Here" and don't speak for 30 minutes, you are auto-set to Idle. When Idle, if you say something, you are set to Here again.

Create a Mag cloud drive.

Create a Mag store where I can purchase Mag merch.

And I want a Mag 34 portal. It'll be a collection of rule 34 content featuring everything Mag related.

And don't forget CD Rom pizza.

Let's keep this topic to actual feature requests, peeps. I don't want it to get cluttered.

Would it be possible to show the status of members in the chat when you click the Who? button? It's annoying to jump in the chat when half of the members are idle.

Help me out here, I'm not sure what the benefit would be to that. I mean, it'd only result in half the Who? list being idle, too.

He wants to be able to see if they're idle before going in.

However, 1ce, that kind of defeats the purpose of the Idle functionality. Idle means that people are actually around, but they haven't responded in the chat in X amount of time. If you give it a couple of minutes, you might find someone respond to you.
